The Surgical Technician / Tissue Processing Technician is responsible for the sterilization of surgical equipment, arrange surgical equipment and adjust medical tools to ensure that the surgical devices are functioning properly.Essential Duties and Responsibilities : Places equipment and supplies in operating room and arranges instruments, according to instructionsAssists team members to place and position patient on tableScrubs arms and hands and dons gown and glovesAids team to don gowns and glovesMaintains supply of fluids, such as plasma, saline, blood, and glucose for use during operationHands instruments and supplies to surgeon, holds retractors, cuts sutures, and performs other tasks as directed by the surgeon during operation.Puts dressings on patient following surgeryCounts sponges, needles, and instruments before and after operationWashes and sterilizes equipment, using germicides and sterilizersCleans operating roomPerforms other duties as assigned / necessaryMinimum Requirements : Surgical Technologist certification as applicable per state and / or client requirementOne year experience as a Surgical Technician preferred (Tissue Processing Technologist – only)Degree in biology related field which includes a degree / certification as a Surgical Technologist preferredComplies with all relevant professional standards of practiceParticipation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicableCurrent CPR if applicableTB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicableCurrent Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)Must meet all federal, state and local requirementsSuccessful completion of new hire training as applicable to job siteUnderstand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirementsAbility to effectively elicit / provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is requiredComputer proficiency requiredMust be at least 18 years of ageBenefitsAt Amergis, we firmly believe that our employees are the heartbeat of our organization and we are happy to offer the following benefits : Competitive pay & weekly paychecksHealth, dental, vision, and life insurance401(k) savings planAwards and recognition programs
