What are the responsibilities and job description for the TEACHER FOR DEAF & HARD OF HEARING position at Amergis?
The Teacher for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing teaches deafand hard-of-hearing pupils in a classroom setting. Instructs in academic subjects of regularcurriculum or adapted curriculum to meet needs of student population.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Develops and implements lesson plans
- Utilizes the use of technical and specialized equipment forstudents with hearing loss
- Prepares lessons that accommodate learning styles
- Communicates by way of sign / spoken language asappropriate
- Assists in the selection of instructional materials andequipment
- Provides training to students or staff to facilitate thechilds learning, inclusion and independence
- Assesses student learning styles and uses results to planeducational activities
- Conducts assessments of student progress and achievementusing testing methodology
- Compiles reports, records, and documents as required
- Participates in IEP meetings with parents, teachers,students, and other School District staff
- Follow School District policies and procedures
