What are the responsibilities and job description for the Travel RN Interventional Radiology position at Amergis?
An Interventional Radiology Nurse is a specialized RN who assists the physician with medical imaging such as MRIs, ultrasounds or X-rays. The RN – Interventional Radiology is responsible for patient care during the entire process, including the initial assessment, the plan of care, administering medication, checking for lab results, and reviewing the patient’s medical history.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides nursing care and performs nursing procedures in all modalities of imaging services (CT, MRI, IR, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy, and Nuclear Medicine
- Initiates IV access or assesses the patency of IV access prior to the administration of contrast media or other intravenous medications or blood products
- Obtains and administers medications as ordered by the physician
- Recognizes emergency situations and participates in treatment interventions including but not limited to contrast reactions with all modalities of imaging services
- Ensures that emergency supplies are current and replaced as needed
- Monitors Critical Care and Emergency Department prior to patient transport
- Accurately documents patient assessment and nursing interventions for patients receiving conscious sedation
- Consults with physicians and radiologists regarding abnormal lab results
- Sets up and maintains sterile trays and other equipment
- Passes instruments and supplies to radiologist practicing sterile technique
Minimum Requirements:
- Current Registered Nurse License for the state in which the nurse practices.
- One year experience in Interventional Radiology preferred
- Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
- Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency program when applicable
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language may be required
