JOB DESCRIPTION :
The Behavioral Health Technician provides basic nursing care, aids with activities of daily living, and assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment, under the direction and supervision of the Director of Clinical Services and Therapists.
In addition to Behavioral Health Technician duties the Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) or Peer Support Specialist (PSS) will assist clients in enhancing their recovery and help promote clients' wellness. The RSS / PSS will provide peer support with other clients to effectively navigate the behavioral health system in the process of their recovery.
JOB REQUIREMENTS :
Education : High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Minimum two (2) years of education focused on nursing, psychology, social service, medicine, or related field preferred. Completion of accredited Recovery Support Specialist program required.
Experience : Training or experience in substance abuse and / or behavioral health services preferred.
Certification : Recovery Support Specialist or Peer Support Specialist Certification,Healthcare Provider CPR and First Aid, Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card, TB, and Handle with Care within the first three (3) months of hire and annually thereafter.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS :
- Must be able to interact positively with clients daily whose behavior may be difficult, uncooperative or aggressive.
- Must be able to perform concentrated and / or complex mental activity with frequent involvement in complex and / or highly technical situations.
- Must be able to work successfully under highly stressful conditions.
- Must be able to make sound, independent judgments based on scientific and / or ethical principles.
- Must be able to comprehend and perform oral and written instructions and procedures.
- Must be able to collaborate with other multidisciplinary team members in an appropriate fashion.
- Must be capable of adapting to varying workloads and work assignments on a constant basis.
- Must have effective comprehensive reading skills, strong communication skills, written and verbal.
- Must possess a valid Arizona Driver's License to transport clients and / or staff, or drive hospital vehicles.
