ATK is seeking a multifaceted, highly motivated designer and art director to become an integral part of our collaborative book design team. This position will focus on the execution of book design and layout (both interior and covers) and art direction of food photography. They will work closely with the Design Director and editorial and photography teams to produce book packages that meet high function and aesthetic goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong design sensibility, editorial layout experience, photography art direction experience, and familiarity with food content.
We juggle many overlapping projects here at ATK, so the candidate should be able to work within deadlines, prioritize, and have strong time management skills. They should have the ability to work in an environment where content creation and layout happen simultaneously, and final designs are reached through an iterative process.
TO THRIVE IN THIS ROLE :
- Bring a honed creative eye to concept and create designs that are innovative, on trend, and that capture the essence of a wide variety of cookbooks, many of which are high concept, while maintaining the established ATK brand voice.
- Demonstrate a willingness to be flexible and iterate on original designs after feedback from our Design Director, Editorial Director, and sales leadership team.
- Be able to design with complex content components that teach and demonstrate to readers both complex actions and concepts.
- Be able to work closely with the editorial team to understand project requirements and develop creative strategy.
- Enjoy and succeed at collaboration as the job requires interaction with editorial, photography, production, and kitchen teams.
