Job Title: Education Specialist
Program: Jobs Plus Woodside
Compensation: $50-55,000 starting salary plus benefits
Purpose: We are seeking an Education Specialist to provide academic counseling and support for a program located in Woodside, Queens. The Jobs-Plus program aims to increase earnings among public housing residents by providing career services, financial counseling/related supports, and community-building activities that support employment in the labor market.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Meet 1x1 with NYCHA residents enrolled in the Jobs Plus program to provide education-related referrals and case management
- Assist NYCHA residents with enrolling in vocational trainings, technical classes, certification programs, and in-house job readiness workshops
- Design and deliver engaging workforce development and job readiness trainings for adult learners
- Research labor market and hiring trends to inform referrals and workshops
- Provide support to clients with their job search efforts, higher education applications, personal and career assessments, and exam preparation
- Facilitate feedback surveys, consult with program staff about client progress, and determine training needs and priorities
- Maintain class enrollments, update daily attendance logs, submit weekly reports, and issue training certificates on a timely basis
- Utilize classroom management skills to provide a positive learning experience for all training participants
- Model professionalism and inclusiveness, cultivate a safe environment for career development, and motivated clients to find full-time employment
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor?s Degree in a relevant field required
- Experience teaching or working in adult education preferred
- Case management experience preferred
- 1-3 years experience working with special and at-risk populations, including public assistance recipients, justice-involved individuals, at-risk youth, individuals with disabilities, and individuals experiencing homelessness, preferred
- Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
- Proficiency in Salesforce, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint preferred
- Highly motivated, energetic self-starter
