    Reporting Structure:

    The Program Manager, Publications and Communications reports to the Director, Publications and Public Outreach.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in communications, publishing, or related field. One- or two-years publishing experience preferred.
    Analytical thinker with ability to successfully handle multiple duties simultaneously. Task-oriented with excellent attention
    to detail, copy editing/proofing skills, and organizational skills. Ability to identify priorities, work independently with
    accuracy and precision, and develop tactics for addressing issues or requests. Collaborative and cooperative
    interpersonal skills. Experience with manuscript submission software preferred.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide support at all levels of the production process to the AAO-HNS/F publications including journals
    Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery and OTO Open, Bulletin, and OTO News as well as the Podcast channels,
    among others.

    • Serve as journals’ liaison for staff and colleagues and external inquiries from members, authors, etc., and participates
    in and contributes to the strategic direction of the journals.

    • Manage the Resident Reviewer Development Program for Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery and OTO Open.

    • Coordinate the publication and distribution of the journal podcasts.

    • Facilitate the editing and production of the Annual Meeting Program Supplement.

    • Manage the ENTHealth patient information subscription program.

    • Serve as member of the Communications BU social media team.

    • Manage and execute special projects as they are assigned in the Communications Business Unit.

    Specific Duties

    • Provide support for the Bulletin, Meeting Daily, and Podcasts throughout the production schedules

    o Attend monthly content calls and Bulletin Editorial Group meetings, among other planning meetings

    o Provide copyediting and editorial input

    o Contribute to strategic content development and approach

    • Facilitate the publication of Clinical Practice Guidelines and Expert Consensus Statement and other AAO-HNSF
    Research and Quality Business Unit products with the journals Editorial Office and inner colleagues.

    • Coordinate and facilitate engagement of mentors and mentees throughout the two-year obligation of the Resident
    Reviewer Development Program (RRDP).

    • Write and coordinate the development of articles for the Bulletin and announcements for OTO News related to the
    RRDP and other topic areas as assigned.

    • Support the RRDP International Community Curriculum by coordinating with the journals Deputy Editor.

    • Attend the ongoing journals publisher calls and podcast recordings; coordinate and contribute to strategic planning
    sessions; attend the Editorial Board and International Editorial Board meetings; review publisher reports; and other
    areas as assigned.

    • Serve as a backup for production of OTO News, the AAO-HNS/F weekly enewsletter.

    • Manage the ENThealth subscription program, which includes onboarding and processing new subscribers,
    troubleshooting subscription issues, and tracking renewals and expired subscriptions.

    • Contribute outreach and engagement ideas, representing publications and ENThealth, on the internal
    Communications BU social media team.

    • Serve on AAO-HNS/F committees and task forces as assigned.

    • Travel as required.
