Founded in 2005, American Academy is a high-performing charter school with three campuses located in Douglas County, Colorado. American Academy serves a diverse student population of 2,300 students (Pre-K-8), by immersing them in a challenging STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) curriculum focused on fostering critical thinking and problem solving.
American Academy (AA) has an immediate opening for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This position is a full-time, leadership position responsible for financial strategic planning & development, staff management, and management of internal and external business relationships. The CFO will work closely with the Executive Director of Schools to ensure the long-term financial health of American Academy. The position requires substantial organizational and time management skills with a high level of autonomy. The CFO reports to the Executive Director of Schools.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adhere to the mission and philosophy of American Academy with enthusiasm, commitment, and integrity
- Develop short and long term financial plans to ensure financial stability
- Develop and maintain a balanced budget and active measure progress
- Collaborate and work closely with Executive Director of Schools, Department Heads and Board of Directors in preparation of budgets, projects, and other financial issues
- Work as a positive member of the AA Executive Leadership team
- Oversee system setup, usage, and maintenance for enterprise system, accounting system, and all other operations systems
- Develop and maintain well-defined business controls and recommend policy changes
- Ensure complete, accurate, and timely record keeping
- Comply with all state, district, and school reporting requirements and mandates
- Manage banking, accounts payable and accounts receivable for AA
- Manage Business Services and Payroll departments
REQUIREMENTS
- Advanced knowledge and skill in application of governmental accounting standards and practices.
- Knowledge of integrated financial management software systems.
- Advanced working knowledge of school finance, funding and Colorado legal requirements.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Advanced oral and written communication and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Experience in supervising people and programs, developing public school budgets and experience in public school accounting desired.
- Leadership skills that support program objectives.
- Experience with governmental accounting.
- Knowledge of best practices in accounting.
Qualifications
Salary : $130,000 - $165,000
