What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Kayaker position at American Adventure Expeditions?
Job Purpose: As a safety kayaker for American Adventure Expeditions, you will provide kayak support with guest safety as your primary focus, all while adhering to the mission statement of American Adventure Expeditions: To build connection through hospitality focused outdoor adventures!
Key Responsibilities (in order of priority):
1. The safety of our guests and yourself will be your top priority at all times.
2. Maintaining a positive attitude that exemplifies excellent customer service at all times.
3. Reporting to your trip leader AT LEAST one hour before the departure of your scheduled trip.
4. Performing pre-trip duties per Trip Leader’s directions.
5. Providing guests with an informative safety kayak presentation prior to the departure of each trip.
6. Adhere to proper AAE and AHRA protocol at put-ins, take-outs, and while on the river.
7. Providing trips with kayak support ensuring guest safety and security.
8. Performing post-trip duties per Trip Leader’s directions and checking in with him or her before leaving for the day.
9. Treat AAE gear as if it were your own – proper cleaning, storage, and maintenance are essential.
10. Participate in weekly meetings to discuss on and off the water issues with your colleagues and supervisors.
Pay Information: This is a seasonal position from May 1st through Labor Day weekend where pay is based upon previous guiding experience, and can range from $60.00 to $80.00 / half day trip plus gratuities.
