Summary: This Director of Operations will oversee the day-to-day activities of the company, ensuring that the organization is managed and performing efficiently and effectively. This leadership position involves managing cross-functional teams, improving processes, and driving operational excellence.
Essential Duties:
- Establishes quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the company's efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated; identifies opportunities for improvement.
- Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business procedures.
- Implements policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations.
- Leads the Safety Committee and ensures work environments are positive and safe.
- Oversees purchasing, project management, and inventory functions, coordinating with sales and design, ensuring each is reaching goals set by company leadership.
- Plans, directs, controls, implements, evaluates, monitors, and forecasts budgets and cost of sales in each division to achieve financial objectives.
- Communicates and explains new directives, policies, or procedures to managers; for major changes, meets with entire operations staff to explain changes, answer questions, and maintain morale.
- Improves customer service and satisfaction through policy and procedural changes.
- Leads coordination and integration of efforts among operations, design/sales, technology, and customer service functions to produce smoother workflow and more cost-effective business processes.
- Projects a positive image of the organization to employees, customers, industry, and community.
- Organizes and oversees the work and schedules of Fire and Security division managers.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Directs discipline and termination of employees as needed with the HR Manager and in accordance with company policy.
- Stay current with changing technology, including software and field services programs.
- Work toward continuous quality improvement.
- Uphold, support, and promote all company policies and procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities: The Director of Operations has supervisory responsibility for the Operations Department, including 2 subordinate supervisors.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
- Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style.
- Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
