Job Description and Expectations
Title: Accounting Clerk/Bookkeeper
Supervisor: Cost Controller
Job Duties:
This position is responsible for providing accounting support to accounting supervisors and other managers within the department. Keys daily worksheets to the general ledger system, ensures files are complete and maintained as needed, handles accounts payable duties, and assists accounting personnel.
Performs accounting and clerical functions to support supervisors.
Researches, tracks, and resolves accounting problems.
Compiles and sorts invoices and checks.
Issues checks for accounts payable and places checks in envelopes and mail out.
Records business transactions and keys daily worksheets to the general ledger system.
Records charges and refunds.
Supports accounting personnel.
Inputs type vouchers, invoices, checks, account statements, reports, and other records. Manages petty cash transactions. Controls credit and chasing debt. Reconciles finance accounts and direct debits.
Files and tallies deposits.
Works with adding machines, calculators, databases and bank accounts.
Matches invoices to work orders.
Processes bills for payment.
Opens mail and matches payments to invoices.
Arranges for money to be delivered to bank.
Utilizes computer systems to run databases, pay bills and order supplies.
Contacts individuals with delinquent accounts.
Ensures customers accept payments or refunds.
Acts as a first point of contact and customer service: dealing with correspondence and phone calls and is a liaison with staff, suppliers and clients
Compiles, reviews, and dissects reports and data transmissions to gleam information for trending and tracking purposes.
Performs miscellaneous tasks to support their manager as assigned
