Open due to an upcoming retirement, this is an exceptional opportunity to lead a highly reputable and growing research department located in the world-renowned Texas Medical Center.
Currently ranked 18th in Blue Ridge NIH funding and rising, CSON has over $6.4 million in federal grants. The school of nursing leads UTHealth Houston’s interdisciplinary Cizik Nursing Research Institute, which provides rich resources to support nursing science. Recent grant awards include a Roybal P30 to fund the Roybal Center on Elder Mistreatment Intervention Research and a U-grant to assess a self-managed auricular point acupressure app for use in rural communities.
The ADR will manage the department of research’s daily operations and play a key role in shaping its strategic direction in nursing research by staying abreast of national trends. The department of research has 23 faculty, over two dozen staff, and houses the PhD Program. The department offers outstanding interprofessional collaborations across UTHealth Houston and the Texas Medical center. The department of research’s Center for Nursing Research (CNR) boasts an 11-seat, state of the art laboratory and provides the capability to perform CLIA testing and a wide range of services to support faculty and students in developing robust programs of research to advance nursing science and improve health care for all.
The ADR role involves collaborating with faculty, students, and stakeholders to strengthen research capabilities, support interdisciplinary projects, and integrate research into teaching, training, and clinical practice. Additionally, the ADR will act as a liaison and facilitator for inter-institutional and interdisciplinary research and research training initiatives.
The successful candidate will be on a tenure track at the Associate Professor or Professor rank with a program of research. The candidate must be eligible to obtain a registered nursing license in Texas, have a doctoral degree in nursing (PhD) or another field (e.g., DrPH) and have a demonstrated commitment to research, education, faculty development and practice.
