The Fran and Earl Ziegler College of Nursing (CON), University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC), seeks applications for the endowed Parry Chair in Gerontological Nursing.
The successful applicant will be a leading nurse authority in gerontological nursing who shares the University’s high standards for innovative and collaborative practice and research that revolutionizes nursing practice, fosters health equity, and improves health outcomes. Our concept of gerontological nursing is broad and addresses the unique physiological, psychological, developmental, economic, cultural, spiritual,and advocacy needs of older adults, including social and structural determinants of health. Preference will be given to applicants with a history of interdisciplinary collaboration with a sustained record of funded research, a national presence, and experience mentoring junior nurse scientists and graduate students.
OUHSC is a comprehensive academic health center with six professional colleges and the Graduate College in one administrative structure, providing the opportunity to form varied teams of researchers to address complex biomedical research problems. OUHSC has a broad range of research, education, and training programs that bring faculty, students, clinicians, and community partners together, and the campus received nearly $180M in sponsored award funding in FY22. The CON was founded in 1911 and is the largest nursing program in Oklahoma, offering degree programs at the baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral levels. Withover 100 faculty members and 1100 students across five sites, the CON’s mission is to advance health in Oklahoma and beyond by educating future leaders, engaging in scientific discovery, translating evidence into practice, and driving innovation. The CON was awarded nearly $15M from NIH and HRSA in FY23 to support research and workforce development.
Faculty appointments will be based on the candidates’ academic preparation, level of expertise, and experience. All faculty are expected to contribute to the academic mission of the CON by operationalizing the interdependence among education, research, and practice/service.

Qualifications
- RN/APRN applicants must have a graduate degree in Nursing and Terminal Degree in Nursing,Health Science or Related Field, and be eligible for nursing licensure in Oklahoma.
- All Applicants must have at least 2 years teaching experience and evidence of documented scholarly activity in the last 5 years, record of advanced clinical practice and/or promising active program of research, including publications in scholarly journals, presentations atscientific/professional meetings, involvement, and leadership in evidence-based/practice innovationprojects, current funding, or grant submissions.
