Job Summary: American Bank of Oklahoma is seeking a Mortgage Loan Originator to guide clients through the home buying and refinancing process. This position involves evaluating, selling, and processing mortgage solutions, engaging with current and prospective customers, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. The Mortgage Loan Originator will be responsible for achieving loan origination goals while providing exceptional service and leveraging cross-selling opportunities within the bank.
This role requires National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) registration under the S.A.F.E. Act of 2008 and Regulation Z, as well as adherence to compliance and ethical banking standards
Key Responsibilities
· Client Engagement:
o Advise clients on the home buying and refinancing process from application to closing.
o Evaluate client needs and recommend appropriate mortgage products.
o Educate and assist customers in understanding and managing their mortgage finances.
· Loan Origination:
o Achieve or exceed specific loan origination and production goals.
o Receive, review, and verify loan applications for completeness and accuracy.
o Collect and ensure proper documentation, including income, employment, and credit history.
· Process Coordination:
o Collaborate with underwriters, loan processors, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate loan processing.
o Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local banking regulations.
o Ensure timely loan documentation retention, scanning, and storage.
· Compliance and Standards:
o Adhere to all bank policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
o Ensure loans and processes meet compliance standards.
· Customer Service:
o Deliver exceptional service to clients, ensuring their satisfaction throughout the mortgage process.
o Maintain a professional demeanor and respect for colleagues and clients.
· Teamwork:
o Work collaboratively with team members to contribute to the success of the department and organization.
o Maintain good working relationships with all bank employees.
· Cross-Selling:
o Leverage knowledge of American Bank of Oklahoma’s full product suite to refer clients to other areas of the bank when appropriate.
· Driving Requirements:
o Role may involve up to 2 or more hours of driving per week meeting with clients or attend training.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
· High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field preferred.
· NMLS registration and ability to meet compliance requirements under the S.A.F.E. Act of 2008.
· Minimum one year of experience in mortgage, sales, real estate, or banking.
· Intermediate knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic math skills.
· Trustworthiness, integrity, and strong attention to detail.
· Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
· Established referral base in the Tulsa market.
· Knowledge of BytePro or similar loan processing software.
· Previous experience in loan processing, origination, or a related field.
· Proven ability to meet or exceed production goals.
· Bilingual in Spanish, preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities
· None.
Physical Requirements:
· Use of manual dexterity skills for typing and data entry up to 60% of the business day.
· Must be able to multi task in stressful situations.
