Job Summary

The SQS is responsible for ensuring the supplier deliverables meet ABS quality requirements without impacting the production process. This role will quickly and effectively take necessary actions to partner with supplier non-conformances to identify root-cause analysis and resolve.
Responsibilities
- Review engineering and manufacturing specifications to identify materials needed for product assembly for all manufactured goods.
- Responsible for overseeing supplier performance via Supplier PPAP reviews and approvals.
- Contact vendors and liaise between product engineers, manufacturing personnel, and suppliers to secure the required materials for the production floor.
- Onsite supplier evaluations and reviews of supplier’s processes against quality standards.
- Develop, collect and report leading metrics of supplier performance to cross-functional management.
- Apply Industrial Engineering concepts and tools to drive safety, accuracy, and productivity within the supply chain and company.
- Provide technical support analyzing and/or performing failure analysis for discrepant production components, assemblies, and field returns. Apply appropriate use of statistical techniques. Lead and evaluate the effectiveness of supplier problem-solving activities.
- Conduct supplier quality control audits to ensure vendors and their supplies remain in compliance with company and federal manufacturing and production standards.
- Able to gain the commitment of both internal departments and supplier organizations to remedy non-conforming practices while maintaining positive and productive working relationships.
- Understand and interpret all manufacturing audits, including ISO 9001 and other industry standards.
- Verify bills of material (BOMs), assembly drawings, engineering tolerances, and other technical information.
- Document changes (CN) and deviations such as product, process, or supplier, as part of the Change Management process.
- Ensure suppliers implement critical destructive and non-destructive quality assurance testing practices (weld evaluation, coating adhesion, torque verification, etc.) where applicable.
- Lead problem solving initiatives to ensure adequate and timely resolutions of quality nonconformances.
- Process checks, approvals, and audits.
- Adhere to federal and state regulations.
- Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures.
- Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
- Predictable and reliable attendance.
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or minimum of four (4) years of related experience in purchasing and supplier management.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret graphs.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- ERP system software knowledge is a plus.
- Ability to conduct root cause analysis (specifically 8D methodology) and drive resolve through completion.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 documentation, IATF 16949, APQP procedures and Quality Management Systems.
- Previous audit experience.
