The Location - Lake Orion
American Battery Solutions Headquarters and Innovation Center is located in the heart of South-East Michigan in Orion Township. Orion Township is a Pure Michigan Trail Town that has a long-standing dedication to enhancing trails and pathways in its community, which is home to the Polly Ann Trail, Paint Creek Trail, and Iron Belle Trail. The Validation Engineering Intern is responsible for the development and testing of battery pack components and systems. The individual is responsible for defining, documenting, designing, and validating mechanical systems and components. This individual interfaces with ABS prototype and production manufacturing teams, strategic suppliers, and test & validation teams.
Responsibilities:
- Supports the development of mechanical system DFMEA’s & DVP&R’s.
- Participates in the development of test plans and design reviews.
- Conduct testing and characterization of battery materials and components.
- Perform data processing and analysis of battery testing results.
- Document all findings and results in detailed technical reports.
- Collaborate with other engineers and team members to achieve project goals.
- Participates in prototype builds.
- Performs other duties requested.
- Predictable and reliable attendance.
- Currently enrolled in pursuit of Mechanical, Systems, or equivalent engineering undergraduate degree.
- Self-motivated problem solver, pays attention to the details, challenges the status quo, and strives for continuous improvement.
- Contributes to team growth by collaborating with cross-function teams and completing projects in a timely manner.
- Adept in data processing and statistical analysis.
- Effective communicator, capable of concisely presenting highly technical test data to internal and external customers, as well as effectively communicating with suppliers.
- Abides by safety standards and protocols.
- Interns require a minimum 3.0 GPA to enter the program.
- Summer Internships require a minimum of 30 hours per week up to maximum of 40 hours a week.

- Ability to adjust focus, especially due to concentration on a computer screen.

- The person in this position needs to occasionally move about in industrial environments, and on uneven terrain.
- Works in a temperature-controlled office environment, with occasional work in outdoor weather conditions, and in industrial environments.
- May be required to travel to and navigate a variety of sites to fully understand material needs.
