Overview
American Battery Technology Company (ABTC) provides technical development and commercialization of domestic, sustainable sourcing of critical battery materials through lithium-ion battery recycling and battery metal extraction technologies for use in batteries that power electric cars, grid storage applications, and consumer electronics and tools. Our first of kind systems produce commercial-scale battery materials that will be sold into the battery manufacturing supply chain to enact a low-cost, low environmental impact, and domestically sourced closed-loop circular economy. Our headquarters is in downtown Reno, Nevada with site locations in Sparks, Fernley, and Tonopah, Nevada.
Role Summary
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing innovative electrical designs that support efficient and reliable mechanical systems in a dynamic, high-performance environment. You will tackle complex challenges, bringing a problem-solving mindset and a passion for scaling processes from bench-scale to pilot or pre-commercial levels. This role offers valuable hands-on experience and professional growth opportunities, working under the guidance and supervision of a licensed electrical engineer.
Responsibilities
- Conduct energy audits, calculate energy usage, and execute circuit analysis for AC and DC systems.
- Perform arc flash studies and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Develop and optimize electrical designs and layouts, including circuiting, conduit, and cable tray systems using 3D modeling.
- Design and specify electrical equipment and power systems to support large-scale industrial power users.
- Maintain up to date panelboard schedules and load lists for the facility
- Contribute to cost estimation efforts within the electrical scope and collaborate with trades to enhance value.
- Specify, size, and integrate variable frequency drives; perform harmonics calculations for site-wide electrical systems.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to troubleshoot and improve system performance.
- Support electrical onsite production and construction activities at our facility.
