Position Description
The Digital Equipment Technician I will provide teleconferencing, audio/visual, PC and iPad support at The American Board of Anesthesiology business office, Assessment, and Conference Centers.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience or education equivalent to completion of two years of college-level coursework in computer science, information technology or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of A/V systems, including surveillance cameras, projectors, large displays, teleconferencing tools, sound systems, and digital media players.
- At least 2 years’ experience troubleshooting and diagnosing computer hardware and software issues.
- Knowledge of networked Windows-based PCs and Apple iPads.
- Knowledge of operating systems Windows 11, Linux and Mac OS.
- Excellent customer service skills with both internal and external clients.
- Experience with safe work practices/requirements and ensuring compliance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for communicating within team, internal and external clients.
- Organized and able to work with little or no supervision.
- Strong team player.
- Able to prioritize personal workload.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing work environment.
- Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to work in other functions of ABA as necessary.
- Ability to learn new applications and programs.
Experience
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a related field in an educational institution/business/medical environment.
Specific Responsibilities
- Provide computer/audio/visual support for business meetings and assessments during business hours, with weekend/after-hour availability as required.
- Operate and manage camera systems to assist examination observation in the Assessment Center; schedule camera operation; archive recorded sessions per policy.
- Exam set-up based on department requirements.
- Computer equipment installation and equipment troubleshooting.
- Order supplies as needed, working with various vendors.
- Stay current on emerging technologies related to IT and A/V systems.
- Provide the necessary expertise and support for the maintenance/repair, inspection, testing requirements of A/V equipment and software, iPad preparation and deployment for the Assessment Center, and support for Windows PCs in the Assessment Center and Conference Center.
- Travel to support remote ABA operations as needed.
- Work on infrastructure projects as a member of the Infrastructure team.
Special Requirements
- Weekend workdays 16-18 days per year.
- Ability to work on feet consistently for extended periods of time.
- Ability to crawl underneath desks to install equipment on occasion.
- Regularly lift and or move up to 25lbs/12kg.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50lbs/23kg.
- Regularly required to stand; walk; sit, bend, and talk or hear.
- Heights; may require some work off a step ladder.
- Must be able to work onsite in Raleigh, NC at least two days/week.
