General responsibilities include but are not limited to
- Assist in instillation of pipe for sewer and water lines.
- Operate an excavator (350-470 size) and other heavy equipment as necessary safely and efficiently.
- Must have experience digging for a pipe crew at times 20 feet deep on line and grade.
- Perform daily checks on equipment.
- Communicate with Foreman/Superintendent, and crewmen to safely accomplish tasks.
- Safely dig and backfill as directed by management.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Understand basic principles of laying water main and gravity storm drain ranging in diameter from 8"-66".
- Ability to operate a rubber tire loader when needed.
- Must be willing to help crew with other activities when an operator is not needed.
- Proficient at layout reading survey points and measuring elevations.
- Good communication skills to work effectively and safely.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
