In this role, you will also serve as the first point of contact at our HR Help Desk, greeting visitors and employees while performing key administrative duties. Though you will utilize your nursing skills to assess work-related injuries and provide compassionate and efficient treatment, this role involves significant administrative responsibilities. You will be responsible for documenting and tracking injury/illness cases, coordinating transitional duty, and monitoring return-to-work status, ensuring a smooth and supportive process for employees. Additionally, you will verify absences due to illness, ensuring accurate documentation and transparent communication across the organization. This position will require collaboration with employees, physicians, the Safety Department, Human Resources, Risk Management, and departmental supervisors.
It is important to note that you will utilize your nursing skills, but this job will be administrative heavy at times.

- Hours: Must be willing to embrace the day-shift Occupational Health Nurse hours which will be 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Register Nurse (RN) license in the State of Alabama.
- Experience: Three (3) or more years of experience in occupational health or clinical triage with knowledge of resources like audio metrics and spirometry.
- Documentation Management: Proficiency in utilizing computer software, including word processing and spreadsheet applications like Word and Excel, is a fundamental requirement for this role. The ability to effectively manage various digital tasks such as screenings, documentation, tests, and spreadsheets is essential to fulfilling job responsibilities.
- Trustworthiness: Strong capability to work autonomously or collaboratively within a team setting, demonstrating a high degree of reliability and trustworthiness, is a pivotal requirement for this position. The role often entails both independent and team-based assignments.
- Stress Tolerance: A demonstrated capacity to effectively manage stress, handle multiple tasks amidst frequent interruptions, and consistently meet deadlines within a fast-paced and unpredictable work environment. Must be able to navigate varying situations that may arise during your shift.
- Attention to Detail: Must have a meticulous attention to detail, with a consistent commitment to upholding elevated standards of accuracy while adhering to specified deadlines.
Key Responsibilities & Skills Needed:
- First Aid and Health Assessments: Provide triage for work-related injuries, coordinate drug testing, and conduct assessments for third-shift employees.
- Medical Testing: Perform hearing screens, HEPB injections, respiratory fit testing, and spirometry testing as per directives and policies.
- Absence Management: Receive and evaluate illness-related absences, authorize justifications, and communicate with departmental supervisors.
- Vaccination Administration: Administer required vaccines (Flu, etc.).
