Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the relevance of ongoing university research to our R&D objectives by interviewing scientists and analyzing research papers and data.
- Assist in the development of a bioinformatics database to standardize and consolidate phenotypical and genomic sequencing data.
- Conduct analysis projects to identify the genetic basis for core fitness traits and test hypotheses through lab and field experiments.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling travel, capturing meeting notes, and summarizing data.
**Requirements:**
- Graduate student in a plant-science related field with at least one year of graduate studies and a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Experience in statistical genetics and rare variant analysis.
- Familiarity with next-generation sequencing data, particularly DNA and RNA-seq.
- Background in horticulture, forestry, or agriculture is a plus.
