Position Summary
The Senior Analyst will report to the Senior Director, Research and Analysis and provide analytical support for the Research and Analysis Team. This is a cross-functional role assisting in the data gathering and quantitative analysis of economic and environmental impact, supply chain, trade, and power systems modeling of the clean power sector. This role offers a unique opportunity to work across all of ACP’s quantitative analysis fields and learn the renewable energy industry.
This individual will collaborate with key renewable energy industry stakeholders and actively contribute to national, state, and local narratives highlighting the impact of policy changes on the clean power industry and the U.S. electricity markets. The industry is a fast-paced, emerging market and ACP’s Markets & Policy Analysis team reflects that and manages priorities accordingly. The Senior Analyst will need to have excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to juggle simultaneous projects, and thrive in a collaborative, high performing environment with a desire to learn.

Power Markets Modeling
We are a fast-paced, high-energy organization with a very ambitious agenda and a staff that is highly motivated. This position may experience high-level work demands and independent decision-making under tight timelines. Occasional travel outside of the Washington, DC area for meetings or events may be required. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. ACP will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
We reasonably believe that the base salary range for this position is $80,000-100,000. At ACP, a wide range of factors are considered when making compensation decisions including and not limited to skill set, experience, training, education, knowledge, and other business and organizational needs. Power Markets Modeling
- Under the guidance of the Deputy Director, update and managing the assumptions that go into ACP’s modeling of the U.S. Power Grid. These include fuel and carbon pricing, resource costs and capacity contributions, transmission capabilities, state policies, renewable policy targets, load and impacts of electrification, and reserve margins.
- Implement ACP’s assumptions into a commercial power systems model and successfully execute, debug, and analyze capacity expansion and production simulation models.
- Execute power system studies and market assessments to inform advocacy positions.
- Help to maintain ACP’s clean power manufacturing data. This includes updating and adding to existing domestic clean power manufacturing data and tracking capacity globally.
- Track and summarize international trade flows of clean power components. Update a database housing this information and regularly deliver summaries to internal teams and ACP.
- Support analysis to assess the impact of trade policy and regulation on clean power project economics, deployments, and industry activity.
- Assist in studies, market assessments, or similar evaluations of the clean energy supply chain to inform advocacy positions and strategic involvement.
- Support the evaluation of the economic and environmental impact of clean power projects, broader industry actions, or policy designs.
- Assist with the collection and reporting of economic investments and impacts proposed or delivered by industry participants.
- Assist with the data collection and analysis of other economic topics (e.g., taxes, subsidies, tariffs).
- Support the ACP’s analytical agenda through policy research, market analysis, and advocacy.
- Evaluate the impact of potential and existing policies on the industry through research and analysis.
- Support the development and delivery of fact sheets and position papers on industry and market issues.
- Provide rapid response and analysis in response to inquiries from staff, association members, regional partners, the press, and outside stakeholders.
- Attend ongoing training courses and stay up to date on models, software, and relevant industry tools.
- B.A. or B.S. degree in economics, statistics, supply chain analytics, computer science, engineering, or relevant field required.
- At least 1 year of experience in a quantitative or analytical role with a master's degree, OR 2-3 years of experience in a quantitative or analytical role with a bachelor's degree.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, adaptable to various technical audiences.
- Proficiency in spreadsheet and presentation software, including Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong prioritization and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to efficiently complete a variety of tasks, find creative solutions to issues, and ability to take ownership of their work.
- Effective interpersonal skills for collaborative teamwork.
- High desirable skills include:
- Experience with a power systems model (AURORA, PLEXOS, PROMOD, EnCompass, RESOLVE, etc.).
- Economic input/output models
- Advanced analytical software such as SQL, R, Python, etc.
