General Position Summary
The Senior Director, Federal Affairs will serve as a strategist and legislative liaison with House and Senate offices in pursuit of the American Clean Power Association's policy priorities, focusing primarily on tax and trade issues. The Senior Director will lead federal affairs initiatives related to technology and issues areas that fall under the tax and trade umbrella and collaborate on clean energy tax incentives and supply chain policy work. The Director will be responsible for lobbying, preparing testimony and briefs, supporting PAC fundraising, participating in ACP member committees and working on cross functional ACP projects.
The Senior Director will interact with all levels of staff within ACP, across all departments and disciplines, and with key external stakeholders and members. Excellent communication skills, professionalism, organizational skills and a desire to learn the industry are necessary attributes for this position. The renewable energy industry is a fast paced, emerging space and ACP's Federal Affairs team reflects that and manages priorities accordingly. Duties and Responsibilities

- Serve as primary liaison to certain congressional offices and other elected or appointed officials on the full range of priority clean power industry issues with a particular focus on tax and trade issues, working with key offices on the House Ways and Means Committee and Senate Finance Committee.
- Provide strategic guidance on legislative strategy and works with outside ACP lobbying consultants to inform ACP positions and advance the organization and industry goals.
- Develop and leads ACP's federal legislative engagement on assigned issues, including coordinating Hill messaging, advocacy materials and member company Hill engagement.
- Provide strategic guidance in defining ACP's federal legislative agenda and strategic Congressional targets in coordination with ACP's Federal Affairs Committee.
- Execute federal affairs strategic plans to engage targets, whether for electoral, political or legislative reasons.
- Attend political fundraising and policy coalition events on behalf of ACP.
- Develop fact sheets and other written communication for a Capitol Hill audience.
- Communicate legislative issues and developments to the membership verbally and in writing, effectively and impactfully.
- Participate as an ACP representative, or lead if needed, within coalitions with other interest groups promoting ACP policy priorities.
- Assist Federal Affairs team with other department projects as directed.
- Attend ACP conferences and events as appropriate.

We are a fast-paced, high-energy organization with a very ambitious agenda and a staff that is highly motivated. This position may experience high-level work demands and independent decision-making under tight timelines. Occasional travel outside of the Washington, DC area for meetings or events may be required. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. ACP will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
We reasonably believe that the base salary range for this position is $ 175,000 - 225,000. At ACP, a wide range of factors are considered when making compensation decisions including and not limited to skill set, experience, training, education, knowledge, and other business and organizational needs.
