ACP is proud to offer a summer internship program which runs for approximately 10 weeks from Tuesday June 3rd through Friday August 8th . These positions are required to work on a hybrid office schedule out of our Washington, DC headquarters and as such, applicants much be local to the DC area or able to relocate to DC for the 10-week period. Internships are paid $20 / hour on a semimonthly pay schedule .
Position Overview
The Energy Storage Intern will support and assist the Energy Storage Team to promote and engage with state and federal energy storage policy initiatives and support communications with, and services for, member companies. Key issues in the portfolio include energy storage procurement targets, permitting and siting policy for energy storage systems, fire safety and hazard mitigation, cybersecurity, and tax policy, among others. This intern will work cross-functionally with other members of the Policy and State Affairs teams on a regular basis to communicate and advance energy storage interests.
Duties and responsibilities for the position will reflect the evolving policy landscape impacting energy storage deployment, including :
- Monitoring state legislative and regulatory actions impacting energy storage system development.
- Monitoring and reviewing external resources on energy storage system development and deployment, including fire safety and hazard mitigation reports and white papers.
- Assist with drafting and preparing written and verbal testimony and comments for legislative and regulatory filing.
- Assist with drafting materials for Energy Storage Policy Committee and Energy Storage Safety Committee meetings.
- Assist in reviewing and revising energy storage fact-sheets and reports for member use.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
Preferred applicants should either be a current student attending an accredited university currently seeking to major or minor in a field related to renewable energy, public policy, business, communications, law or pre-law or have experience working in state and / or federal policy implementation or advocacy.
