POSITION TITLE: SUSTAINABILITY INTERN

LOCATION: Washington, DC Preferred

1. SUMMARY, PURPOSE, AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION

The American Cleaning Institute (ACI) is the non-profit trade association representing manufacturers of household, industrial, and institutional cleaning products and their ingredients. ACI is offering a full-time paid internship to support the ACI Sustainability Program. Major responsibilities will include:

• Conduct a data-gathering exercise to benchmark ACI member companies for the year 2025. This data gathering helps ACI better understand trends in where member companies are moving in the various focus areas of sustainability and is essential to ACIs bi-annual sustainability report.

• Work with ACI member companies to develop Sustainability Case Studies to identify members who are leaders in the field and to promote the sustainability activities they are conducting. These case studies are meant to educate member companies on how to adopt advanced sustainability strategies.

• Possibility to develop an additional project aligned with educational objectives or credits associated with the degree that the candidate is pursuing.

1. QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Ability to conduct desktop research.

• Effective oral and written communication skills.

• Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently and a willingness to learn.

• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).

• Handle multiple tasks and projects.

• Must be detail-oriented, well-organized and exhibit good judgement.

ACIs office is located in downtown Washington, D.C. The internship is available for 12 weeks starting in May 2025 through the end of the summer. Please note that housing assistance is not available.
