POSITION SUMMARY: This position is under the direct supervision of the Senior Security Manager & Area Manager and is responsible for the protection, safeguarding, and security of property, personnel, customers and all visitors while on duty, as well as various clerical responsibilities when assigned.
DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Manages a shift and/or segment of guarding operations at multiple sites, including supervision of subordinate officers and supervisory staff;
- Ensures that personnel deliver high quality service;
- Ensures that service expectations are being met through regular contact with clients;
- Evaluates service quality, inspects posts and initiates corrective action in a timely manner as necessary;
- Meets with line management and/or client representatives for status updates and to address any actual or potential problems;
- Provides support during client start-ups;
- Provides input to security planning, assessments and surveys;
- Reviews post orders and communicates requirements and changes to affected personnel;
- Participates in and coordinates with line management regarding the orientation, training, development and retention of high caliber staff;
- Ensures that each staff member is treated with dignity and respect;
- Coaches employees and carries out disciplinary actions, as necessary;
- Maintains and submits payroll records and other employee and business information;
- Reviews client and company reports for accuracy and timeliness;
- Maintains a positive, professional environment in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures;
- Acts to ensure that staff members understand and comply with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures;
- Communicates and coordinates with line management regarding scheduling, staffing, equipment, record keeping, and related matters, to ensure smooth delivery of services;
- Makes scheduling and staffing adjustments as needed to meet client requirements while controlling labor costs;
- Reviews reports to ensure that commitments have been met and client directions have been followed.
- Provides input to company initiatives;
- Promptly assists line management in the resolution of legal, financial, human resources, and administrative issues;
- Performs tasks and duties of a similar nature and scope as required for assigned office.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 18 Years of Age or Older;
- High School Diploma or Equivalent;
- 2 years Security Field Supervisory experience required;
- 2 years licensed Security Officer experience required;
- Security or Law Enforcement experience preferred;
- Must maintain a valid California BSIS Security Guard Registration ("Guard Card"), Transportation Worker's Identification Credential "TWIC", State issued driver license, and must have a clear driving record;
- Ability to understand and follow standard operating procedures;
- Ability to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance;
- Required to observe all safety and health requirements for container terminal environment;
- Must be able to work in rotating shifts, days, evenings, and nights.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to clearly read, write, and speak English;
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret important security related documents;
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, employees, and management team.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Basic mathematical skills, including but not excluding addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, ratios, and proportions in practical solutions.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions;
- Ability to make independent and good judgment decisions within proper policy and procedure.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Requires the ability to frequently walk to employee work areas and other work areas;
- Requires the ability to push, pull, carry, and lift up to 50 lbs;
