Introduction : We are seeking an experienced Civil Superintendent with expertise in civil infrastructure , underground utilities , and mass excavation to oversee and manage day-to-day operations on construction sites. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing civil projects, ensuring that work is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. This role requires hands-on experience, leadership, and the ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, and the project team to ensure project success.
Key Responsibilities :
- Site Supervision and Coordination :
- Oversee and manage all aspects of civil construction projects, including underground utilities (water, sewer, storm drainage), mass excavation, and civil infrastructure development.
- Supervise field operations, ensuring that construction activities are carried out according to the approved plans, specifications, and schedules.
- Coordinate daily activities on-site, including material deliveries, equipment usage, and the work of subcontractors and crew members.
- Ensure proper site preparation, including excavation and utility installation, with an emphasis on accuracy and quality.
- Leadership and Team Management :
- Lead and manage a team of field workers, laborers, and subcontractors, ensuring efficient and productive work processes.
- Provide on-site direction, motivation, and training to crew members, ensuring they understand their tasks and responsibilities.
- Enforce company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards on-site, ensuring a safe and productive work environment.
- Resolve any on-site issues related to work performance, safety, or project delays and take corrective actions as necessary.
- Quality Control and Safety Management :
- Ensure adherence to project specifications, quality control standards, and safety protocols on all civil infrastructure and utility installation tasks.
- Conduct daily inspections and safety meetings, maintaining a safe and compliant work environment by identifying and addressing potential hazards.
- Review and verify work quality, ensuring all tasks are completed to the highest standards and comply with local regulations.
- Ensure that all equipment is maintained and in good working order, performing routine checks as needed.
- Project Scheduling and Progress Tracking :
- Work closely with project managers to track and meet project schedules, providing updates on project milestones and progress.
- Assist in the development of project timelines and ensure that work is completed on time, coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers to maintain workflow.
- Report any delays or obstacles to project managers, proactively identifying solutions to keep projects on schedule.
- Documentation and Reporting :
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of work completed, including daily reports, inspection logs, and material usage.
- Prepare and submit reports related to project status, including labor productivity, site conditions, and any issues or concerns.
- Assist in documenting changes or variations from the original scope of work and help manage change orders and RFIs (Requests for Information).
- Client and Stakeholder Communication :
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients, subcontractors, and vendors on-site, maintaining clear and professional communication.
- Address and resolve client concerns related to construction progress, quality, or safety in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure that all stakeholders are kept informed of project status and changes through regular updates and meetings.
