The Safety Specialist will promote safety strategies, compliance, and safety improvement efforts and will report to the company Safety Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinates, administers, and updates current company safety programs and portals (e.g., ISNetWorld, Browz, MICC, etc.).
- Conduct regular safety meetings for employees as management requires.
- Conduct safety educational programs for employees.
- Understands ongoing development of safe operation practices for shop and field equipment.
- Conducts regular compliance inspections by reviewing safety practices and potential hazards in each work area throughout the fleet; this may include visits to job sites to ensure proper safety practices are being followed.
- Investigates, assists, and reviews all injuries, accidents, and near misses.
- Stay current on governmental rules and regulations regarding occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations; attend safety-related seminars, training, or other relevant programs to increase knowledge and stay abreast of changes in rules and regulations as approved.
- Acts as a resource for the management team - providing instruction, educational materials, information, research, and assistance with implementing the Company’s safety program and environmental compliance initiatives.
- Establishes and maintains an accurate record keeping of safety compliance and employee training.
- Monitors all hazardous waste disposal and related government reporting.
- Oversees truck and vehicle safety; ensures 100% compliance with DOT Program and requirements.
- Conducts new hire safety training and orientation as needed.
- Assists Regional Managers, as requested, with all AES and customer-specific jobsite safety requirements, including pre-project safety reviews.
- Obtains and ensures any necessary warning signs and safety posters are appropriately posted.
- Prepares safety letters and safety bulletins for all employees.
- Ensure all regions are current with the Company and customer-mandated drug testing program, as well as OSHA, Fitness for Duty, first aid, and other training that may be required to support the Company's operations.
- Ensure monthly inspections of all safety-related equipment (i.e., air monitors, safety harnesses, hardhats, etc.) are performed; document any safety-related calibrated equipment in accordance with applicable AES QA procedures.
- Conduct quarterly vehicle inspections and ensure that all titles, tags, registrations, maintenance, etc., are current.
- Prepares management reports that analyze the safety program and identify trends, problem areas, and compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Communicate with management teams to direct and confirm compliance with all state, federal, local, and customer-specific regulatory requirements.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Safety Manager.
Qualifications:
- College degree in Occupational Safety and Health (preferred) (either an associate or bachelor’s degree).
- Minimum High School graduate with 2-5 years of experience in the safety and health field.
- Minimum must have completed the OSHA 10- and 30-hour construction or general industry courses. Being certified as a First Aid and CPR Instructor is a plus.
- TWIC Card or the ability to obtain.
- Other skills required:
