Job Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Participates in planning, design, installation and configuration of telecom transport equipment such as Carrier Ethernet, DWDM, Sonet and Microwave transport systems.
- Perform network analysis and troubleshooting of AEP's telecommunication transport network.
- Collaborate with planning, project management, various engineering organizations and vendors to satisfy AEP's requirements for the telecom transport network.
- Perform scoping details for telecom transport projects related to new installs as well as upgrades to existing telecom transport equipment.
- Prepares cost estimates and supporting documentation for engineering assignments using established guidelines.
- Performs network assignments and assist senior engineers to develop telecom architecture improvements for the transport network.

- Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, telecommunications, or related field of study or
- Associate's degree in field mentioned above with 2 years of relevant work experience or
- HS diploma/GED with 4 years of relevant work experience required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Possess entry to basic level knowledge of communications technologies and inter-networking principles.
- Demonstrate competency in analytical techniques necessary to handle basic assignments. (e.g., by dividing the problem into component steps, and performing the analysis necessary to complete each step.)
- Exhibit fundamental understanding for pertinent telecom equipment, materials, systems and business processes.
