American Electric Power is seeking a highly skilled Transmission Right of Way Manager to join our team. As a key member of the company's Right of Way department, you will be responsible for managing the activities related to securing land rights and permits for the construction, operation, and maintenance of our electric transmission facilities.
About the Role
This position reports to the Right of Way Manager, Senior, and is responsible for overseeing the activities of multiple transmission regions. You will work closely with the Transmission Right of Way group to secure land rights, licenses, leases, permits, and other documents necessary for our operations. Your duties will include implementing organizational and process improvements, reporting organizational performance, and ensuring timely, efficient, and cost-effective execution of the group's duties.
Main Responsibilities
* Manage and direct employees engaged in transmission right of way activities throughout the region
* Ensure adherence to approved processes and documents, including rights of entry, damage claims, contracts, easements, licenses, leases, permits, options to purchase, and other legal documents
* Prepare and revise tax reports and other regulatory reports on all transmission land rights owned by American Electric Power
* Plan, organize, and provide training to regional TROW staff on the acquisition of land and land rights for transmission projects
* Identify qualified suppliers and develop, bid, and administer contracts with right of way procurement companies for work on transmission projects
Requirements
* Associate of Science degree plus 9 years' related experience, or Bachelor of Science degree preferred plus 7 years' related experience
* 7-9 years of experience in business, management, real estate, law, electric transmission, and/or distribution right-of-way, with a minimum of 4 years in a previous leadership position
* Prior experience in project management preferred
* Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and organizational skills
* Strong proficiency working with Microsoft Office products and right-of-way/land management databases
