POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Director, National Sales Manager, is responsible for leading the development team that interacts directly with financial institutions and financial advisors. The position will work closely with the Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO) to create strategic business plans and use business analysis to drive sales results. This position will also work with the development team to coordinate the execution of development strategy with marketing and complex assets strategies to ensure alignment with AEF’s branding, messaging, perception and market segmentation. Additionally, this position will be responsible for the development team’s budgeting, expense reporting, travel, and conference attendance to enhance our presence and build relationships within the financial services industry.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working closely with the CBDO, determines organizational structure and staffing to meet development and growth objectives to recruit, fill and onboard new team members.
- Lead, coach and develop the Partnership Firm team to drive performance and their strategic growth objectives by evaluating ongoing effectiveness of the team and relevant systems. Reviews and approves individual financial firm business plans to assure alignment with AEF’s overall business development strategy.
- Build key accounts into strategic partners, and drive sustaining revenue, market share growth and product footprint.
- Conduct outside sales activities, including prospecting, lead generation, and customer visits. Attend industry events, conferences and network functions to build relationships and establish new business opportunities.
- Manage projects related to business development initiatives.
- Creates and executes effective ways to introduce the AEF team to the advisor’s marketplace.
- Collaborates with Marketing & Communications on presentations and materials for business partners, corporate executives and shareholders to increase brand awareness.
- Negotiate with financial firms to create positive and efficient working relationships.
- Works closely with the CBDO on financial firm agreements greater than $5 million.
- Conducts custodial and financial firm relationship analysis.
- Reviews, and revises, if necessary, workload and capacity to maintain quality relationships.
- Proactively thinks of the barriers, threats, and challenges and how to overcome these.
Qualifications
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
- 10 or more years of work-related sales experience
- 5 or more years of experience leading a team
- Demonstrated track record leading significant revenue and overachieving targets to meet stretch goals
- Demonstrated ability to provide thought leadership, think strategically and effectively communicate vision (both written and verbal) and influence cross-functionally
- Working knowledge of the financial services industry is preferred
- Excellent negotiation and presentation skills are essential
- Strong leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities
- Travel required, 50%
