Small Engine Technician
Job Summary
The Small Engine Technician performs general diagnostics, service repairs, and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned lawn & garden equipment including tractors, mowers and small gas and electric hand-held equipment. Must have knowledge of all systems including engines, hydraulics, electrical and transmissions. Job also includes farm implement repairs. May require some direction or guidance from the Service Manager or senior technicians.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs general diagnostics and repairs on turf equipment
- Maintains condition of inventory, tools, and equipment
- Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion
- Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
- Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments
Required Skills/Abilities:
- 1 years of experience performing service repairs or person with technical and mechanical skills, willing to learn a lifelong trade in small engine and power equipment repair
- Ability to perform basic repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment, specialty tools supplied but applicant responsible for own hand and power tools
- Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in the repair of lawn and garden equipment. Fuel injection, electronic governor, welding and fabrication experience, all a plus
- Ability to operate vehicles and equipment- must have a valid NYS driver's license
- Proficient oral and written communication skills
- Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in the repair of turf equipment
- Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes
- Basic Service Technician certification preferred
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is highly active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items weighing 70 pounds or more

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 42 – 50 per week
