JOB SUMMARY :

The Annuities Writing & Content Strategy Manager is responsible for brainstorming, creating, and strategically managing high-quality written content that supports multiple integrated marketing campaigns and aligns with the company's brand. This role ensures that all communications-both internal and external-are compelling, consistent, and effective in engaging target audiences.

  • Position sits in West Des Moines and will work an onsite hybrid schedule

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Content Strategy and Development :

  • Brainstorm and develop differentiating ideas, transforming these ideas into powerful, strategic written communications.
  • Collaborate across teams to deliver accurate, high-quality content that adheres to brand guidelines.
  • Gather key business insights and apply strategic thinking to craft short- and long-term visions for compelling and branded content.
  • Use data and analytics to inform and refine content strategies, ensuring alignment with business goals and audience needs.
  • Content Creation :

  • Write and oversee the development of various communication materials, including product content, emails, brochures, postcards, letters, press releases, and investor relations materials.
  • Produce content tailored for specific audiences, including agents, IMOs, contract holders, employees, and the public.
  • Rewrite and update existing materials to maintain relevance and alignment with current branding and messaging.
  • Partner with graphic designers to develop visually compelling content that enhances storytelling.
  • Collaboration and Coordination :

  • Serve as a strategic partner to internal stakeholders and external vendors, managing the creation and production of communication pieces from concept to delivery.
  • Collaborate with compliance, investor relations, and other departments to ensure all communications meet regulatory and business requirements.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships across company departments, acting as a trusted advisor on content-related matters.
  • Performance and Optimization :

  • Monitor content performance metrics to assess impact and refine strategies.
  • Regularly audit and update content to maintain consistency, accuracy, and effectiveness.
  • Other Duties :

  • Leads a diverse team of employees with responsibility for managing the employee life cycle and experience, including but not limited to, selection and retention of talent, continuous feedback and performance management, reward and recognition, corrective action and employee development.
  • Perform additional related tasks as assigned to support the organization's objectives.
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Supervise staff of Sr. content and content writers and contractor writing staff
  • EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE :

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university with degree in English, journalism, mass communications, finance or related field.
  • A minimum of five (5)years of experience in professional writing and content strategy, within financial services or insurance.
  • Demonstrated expertise in creating and managing annuities-related content.
  • Writer Portfolio required to demonstrate skills and abilities.
  • Preferred qualifications

  • Certification in financial planning or related fields (e.g., CFP, CFA) is a plus.
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

    Content Expertise :

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Knowledge of AP writing style and high-quality journalism practices.
  • Strong ability to translate strategic ideas into clear and compelling written content.
  • Proficiency in using analytics to inform content strategy.
  • Strategic Thinking :

  • Ability to craft and implement a cohesive content strategy that aligns with marketing and business goals.
  • Deep understanding of audience segmentation and the ability to create targeted messaging.
  • Technical Skills :

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with content management systems and project management tools such as Monday.com, Asana, or Adobe Workfront.
  • Ability to calculate and interpret figures such as interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
  • Collaboration and Communication :

  • Effective collaborator who can build strong relationships across teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, balancing active listening with clearly articulated points of view.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with internal and external partners, including designers, compliance teams, and vendors.
  • Adaptability and Problem-Solving :

  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguous or non-standardized situations.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
