Electrical Controls Engineer
American Extrusion International is a global company engaged in the design, development, manufacture, installation and service of Grain Extrusion Equipment and other up/downstream accessories for the Food Industry. We are looking for a self-motivated, experienced, Electrical Controls Engineer to join our dynamic team.

Job Duties
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, installing, managing, and maintaining equipment that is used to manufacture snack food around the world.
Responsibilities
- Effectively communicate with sales department staff to select the appropriate equipment.
- Effectively communicate with the electrical and service departments to design, develop, and supervise the manufacturing and installation of the equipment
- Collaborate with mechanical engineering and manufacturing to ensure an efficient process.
- Communicate with vendors regarding price/capability of products.
- Create and maintain electrical control bills of materials
- Create and update electrical prints from which a machine control can be wired properly.
- Write/update programs for Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs
- Startup and troubleshoot machines
- Ensure that the company standards are met by verifying via checklist that all machines work as expected before shipping to the customer.
- Travel may be required, up to 10%, including international.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must possess:
- 3 Years' experience writing/updating PLC programs or comparable programming experience.
- Bachelor's degree or technical degree and experience.
- AutoCad experience
- Experience with Siemens TIA portal v15 and above as well as the latest Allen Bradley Compact Guard, Compact Logix and old Micrologix, software
- Working knowledge of MS Office
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to be productive with no immediate supervision
- Ability to apply the principles of electrical theory to engineering projects
- An optimistic outlook and an enthusiastic readiness to contribute to a collaborative environment
- Outstanding Problem Solving and Analytical Skills.
While the following would be a plus:
- Bilingual/Multi-Lingual language skills.
Pay is $80,000 - $115,000 based on experience and qualifications.
Job Type: Full Time, Exempt
