Shipping & Receiving:
Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Shipping Associate & Material Handler to join our team. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth flow of materials and products through the shop, from receiving raw materials to shipping out finished products. The ideal candidate will have experience in both shipping processes and material handling, particularly within a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process outgoing shipments, including packaging, labeling, and documenting finished products.
- Verify and inspect incoming raw materials (such as steel, aluminum, and other metals), ensuring they meet quality standards and match purchase orders.
- Coordinate with carriers for timely pickups and deliveries, ensuring accurate and secure transportation of materials and products.
- Maintain detailed records of all shipping and receiving transactions, including material certifications and inspection reports.
- Handle returns and exchanges of defective materials or products, following company procedures.
Material Handling:
- Safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment to move, store, and organize heavy metal materials and finished products.
- Load and unload trucks, containers, and pallets, ensuring proper storage and handling of metals and fabricated components.
- Assist in organizing and maintaining inventory, including conducting regular inventory counts of raw materials, components, and finished products.
- Ensure that all materials are stored safely and efficiently, following shop floor plans and safety protocols.
- Assist in the replenishment of stock and supplies, coordinating with the purchasing department as needed.
Shop Support:
- Work closely with the fabrication team to ensure materials are readily available for production, minimizing downtime.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and organized shop floor, including removing scrap materials and managing waste disposal.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe operation of machinery and equipment.
- Support other shop activities as needed, including assisting with minor fabrication tasks or equipment maintenance.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years of experience in shipping, receiving, or material handling in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment preferred.
- Ability to operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment (certification is a plus).
- Familiarity with metal materials, including steel, aluminum, and other alloys.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly in handling and documenting metal materials.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 75 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
