DEPARTMENT: Public Policy
POSITION OBJECTIVE: Perform administrative support duties for Public Policy Department
REPORTS TO: Director, Policy Operations
LOCATION: Washington, DC; eligible to earn telework 2 days/week
PAY RANGE: $50,000 - $55,000 annually
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform general administrative support duties including preparation of statements and letters to Congress, the Executive Branch and federal agencies and communications with state Farm Bureaus.
- Process invoices and expenses as directed.
- Help coordinate meetings with allied groups to be held at the AFBF Washington DC office.
- Track status of legislation, regulations, and other pertinent information to update Directors.
- Provide administrative support economic analysis and reporting.
- Maintain program, project and task files.
- Assist in preparation and logistics for various meetings or conferences as needed, including preparing agendas and meeting materials, scheduling travel, making arrangements for catering and audio/video equipment, and communicating with attendees.
- Provide relief and back-up assistance to the front desk.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Works daily with all team members of the Public Policy Department. Works with other AFBF team members, state Farm Bureau staff and volunteer leaders as needed.
EDUCATION OR TRAINING REQUIRED:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in a professional environment
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Strong business communication skills
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Detail oriented and strong editing skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proactive planning and can demonstrate good judgement
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
- Experience with spreadsheets and database systems
- Courteous and professional demeanor
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/SKILLS:
- Familiarity with Farm Bureau
- Experience with legislative tracking and advocacy related platforms
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Occasional travel for on-site assistance is required
