At American First Finance (AFF), the Sr. Director of Business Development plays a critical role in driving growth by sourcing and launching new merchant partnerships within the SMB segment. This role requires creative problem-solving, strategic thinking, and the ability to overcome obstacles during every stage of the prospecting and onboarding process. Most importantly, this leader delivers a world-class customer experience aligned with AFF’s Core Values to ensure lasting, successful merchant relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive new transactions and originations across targeted SMB relationships by utilizing AFF’s financing products, including loans and leases.
- Conduct direct sales with business owners, senior executives, and key stakeholders.
- Represent AFF at industry events, tradeshows, regional meetings, and webinars to build and strengthen partnerships.
- Prospect, research, cold call, and network to develop a continuous pipeline of high-potential opportunities.
- Partner with Inside, Field, and National Sales teams to successfully onboard and launch new merchant relationships.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of National sales experience, specifically in the furniture, appliance and/or mattress space.
- Proven face-to-face selling experience.
- Proven ability to research, prospect, and develop new pipeline opportunities.
- Superior skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- High energy, excellent organization skills, and uncompromised integrity.
- Demonstrated record of accomplishment for achieving measurable goals.
- Outstanding relationship-building skills with a high degree of responsiveness and follow-up.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and car insurance for any required driving.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree (preferred, not required).
• Prior experience in Consumer Finance, Lease-to-Own, Point-of-Sale Finance, BNPL, or the FinTech industry.
