Linux Administrator

Pay: $90000 per year - $100000 per year

Summary

The Linux Administrator will be responsible for building, maintaining and patching our Linux systems. Utilizing Ansible playbooks, they will make sure that Operating Systems and applications are kept up to date with the latest security patches and configuration updates. This position will be building new images, testing changes needed for our POS systems and Linux servers. They will also be responsible for maintaining our PXE booting/imaging environment.

Responsibilities

• System Administration: Manage and maintain Linux-based systems, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security.
• Ansible Automation: Develop, test, and deploy Ansible playbooks for automating system configurations, application deployments, and management tasks.
• PXE Imaging: Maintain and manage PXE boot environments for automated system imaging processes.
• OS Patching: Regularly apply patches and updates to Ubuntu systems, ensuring they are up-to-date and secure.
• Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor system performance, identify issues, and troubleshoot problems to ensure minimal downtime.
• Security Management: Implement and enforce security best practices, system hardening, and remediation of vulnerability scan results
• Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and automation scripts.
• Collaboration: Work closely with other IT team members, developers, and stakeholders to support and enhance our IT infrastructure.
  
  

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Linux , or LPIC are advantageous.
• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Linux Administrator, with a strong focus on Ansible and Linux operating systems
• Proficiency in Linux system administration, particularly Ubuntu.
• Hands-on experience with Ansible for automation and configuration management.
• Expertise in setting up and managing PXE boot environments.
• Understanding of network protocols, firewalls, and security best practices.
• Experience with shell scripting and other scripting languages (Python, Perl, etc.).
• Knowledge of virtualization technologies and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Knowledge of POS systems is a plus
• Knowledge of Azure
• Experience with Devops
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies and methodologies.
• Hybrid position
