DAY TO DAY AS A URBAN FORESTER

As the City Arborist for American Fork City, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the comprehensive tree management program that enhances the aesthetic appeal and ecological health of our urban landscape. You will develop and implement both short and long-term strategies for the city's tree system, ensuring sustainable practices that benefit the community. Conducting a thorough inventory of all trees, you will assess their condition and maintenance needs, ensuring a vibrant and safe environment. Additionally, you will serve as the staff liaison for beautification committees and landscape plans, collaborating with stakeholders to create visually appealing and environmentally responsible green spaces. ARE YOU THE URBAN FORESTER WE'RE LOOKING FOR?

To excel as the City Arborist at American Fork City, you will need a combination of technical skills and effective communication abilities. A high school diploma paired with at least three years of tree maintenance experience is essential for understanding the intricacies of urban forestry. Proficiency in using industry-standard software and tools for tree management is crucial.

Strong English communication skills will enable you to effectively liaise with beautification committees, city officials, and the community, fostering collaborative relationships. Additionally, possessing a current driver's license is necessary for mobility around the city. You must also demonstrate your commitment to your profession by obtaining and maintaining Arborist Certification from the International Society of Arboriculture within three months of your hire date, along with acquiring a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within the same timeframe.

These qualifications will ensure your success in managing and enhancing the city's tree system.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

• High school diploma and 3 years of tree maintenance experience.
• Effective English communication skills.
• Must have a current driver's license
• Must obtain and maintain an Arborist Certification by the International Society of Arboricultural within 3 months of hire date.
• Must obtain a CDL within 3 months of hire date.
