Summary/Objective: The Ink & Coating Development Engineer will lead the North Carolina facility with the process of development, design, or improvement of existing ink/coating product. This position is responsible for ensuring the final product meets requirements/specifications based on customer needs.
Specific Responsibilities And Essential Functions
- Research, design, and development of flexographic print product that meets both corporate and customer standards.
- Develop and manage the ink development process, from conceptualization to production and delivery.
- Job focus is based around Flexographic printing process
- Plan, design, develop, qualify, validate, and stabilize process for the new product development.
- Act as a subject matter expert for critical ink and coatings development processes and qualification work.
- Work directly with cross functional groups to ensure flexographic inks are processed and ran smoothly
- Provide daily feedback to Ink Development group and well as full Product Engineering team based in KY
- Work directly with production team members, as well as vendors for trial and commercial support
- Apply engineering principles, world-class manufacturing techniques, statistics, and risk management to establish new methods, controls, and procedures.
- Plan and formulate all aspects of research and development proposals, such as objective or purpose of project, applications that can be utilized from findings, costs of project, and equipment and human resource requirements.
- Support root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions to QA team as required to resolve defects, test failures, process capabilities as well as supply capacity risks.
- Oversee production trials stemming from ink developments with Ink Development Specialist and provide analysis of trial.
- Research new techniques, materials, vendors and processes that can improve the overall output of the flexographic printing process.

- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in printing technology with minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in printing ink development, color management and standardization environment. Preferred to have extensive knowledge of Flexographic printing process.
- Strong knowledge of printing inks and coatings including but not limited to Flexo, Gravure, Offset and Digital printing processes.
- Proficient in relevant computer applications such as MS Work and Excel
- Possesses strong mathematical, statistical, data analysis and problem-solving skills with experience in regulated and formulated product qualification and validation process.
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Able to move and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Able to reach and bend.
- Occasionally – less than 25%

Salary : $75,600 - $94,500
