Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Funeral Director/Funeral Service Licensee to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the funeral service industry, providing support and guidance to families during their time of loss. This role requires a blend of technical skills, customer service expertise, and emotional intelligence to ensure that every service is conducted with dignity and respect.
Embalming and crematory experience are a plus.
We are a small, low volume funeral home. Our funeral directors(and all associates) are expected to perform a variety of tasks to include administrative work as well as physical labor related to services and the funeral home itself. Duties
- Coordinate and oversee all aspects of funeral services, including planning, logistics, and execution.
- Provide bereavement support to families, offering guidance and comfort during difficult times.
- Conduct consultations with families to discuss their needs and preferences for funeral arrangements.
- Prepare the deceased for viewing by performing necessary tasks such as sanitation, cosmetology, and dressing.
- Manage the sales process for funeral products and services while maintaining a focus on customer service.
- Ensure compliance with all legal requirements and industry regulations related to funeral services.
- Maintain accurate records of all services provided and manage financial transactions associated with funerals.
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a seamless experience for families throughout the entire process.
- Perform heavy lifting as needed when handling caskets or transporting remains.
Requirements
- First and foremost, you MUST be compassionate with our families and passionate about funeral service, in general to fill this role.
- Valid Funeral Director/Funeral Service license as required by North Carolina regulations.
- Ability to operate a PC and to communicate through email
- Knowledge of the NC DAVE system and the ability to complete and file DC's online.
- Excellent customer service skills, demonstrating empathy and understanding in all interactions with grieving families.
- Experience in sales within the funeral industry is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks associated with the role.
- Knowledge of cosmetology techniques for preparing the deceased for viewings is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed to accommodate funeral services.
