Job Summary
The Removal Tech/Funeral Home Assistant plays a vital role in providing support and assistance to individuals and families during challenging times. This position involves a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring comfort for our families from first call to final disposition and beyond. The ideal candidate will possess a compassionate demeanor, good judgement and a passion for helping others though their loss. This is a part time position and the hours will vary according to the number of families we are serving. We pay a per removal fee for individual removals that occur outside of scheduled hours.
Responsibilities
- Drive funeral service vehicles as required
- Removal of human remains from homes, hospitals, care centers, morgues, etc.
- Assist the funeral director on services and visitations
- Transport remains to other facilities when necessary
- Assist funeral home office manager with administrative tasks such as folding memorials, courier service for documents, answering phones, taking messages, making bank runs.
- Perform heavy lifting as needed, such as moving furniture or assisting with setup for events.
- Assist with funeral home maintenance and cleaning
- Assist with dressing, casketing, and cosmetizing of deceased individuals
Skills
- Ability to lift and manipulate deceased individuals with and without assistance
- Compassion for those dealing with the loss of a loved one and the ability to communicate with them on the first call.
- Initiative and common sense
- Being comfortable around deceased individuals
- Prior mortuary schooling/experience is preferred but not required

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $12.00 - $14.00 per hour
