What are the responsibilities and job description for the Furniture Prep Technician position at American Furniture Warehouse?
The role of the Furniture Preparation Technician is to safely and efficiently open, assemble, inventory, and inspect all merchandise prior to being loaded for delivery. Assembling merchandise will require the use of power tools, drill bits, hand tools, box cutter, and the ability to read process directions. The Furniture Preparation Technician will ensure all merchandise is in perfect condition after its been assembled by visually inspecting the merchandise, and notifying the management team of any potential issues with the merchandise. The Furniture Preparation Technician will also prepare all packaging material that the merchandise is shipped in to be processed by the Recycling Team, all training is provided by and paid for by AFW.

Job Requirements
Assembly experience preferred.
Ability to be trained and certify in the operation of pallet jack.
Must own your own hand tools.
Knowledge of and the ability to perform the correct lifting / team lifting techniques.
Experience using hand tools.
Ability to safely operate a company approved safety knife.
Job Expectations :

Assemble merchandise correctly and efficiently using a variety of tools while sustaining a high level of quality assurance and attention to detail.
Able to identify and read reports, invoices and UPC labels to ensure invoices are complete.
Organize merchandise in the delivery lanes to ensure a successful and efficient load out.
Maintain the cleanliness of the delivery lanes.
Separate recyclable product and transport to the recycling are for processing.
Able to inspect, inventory, and hard mark all merchandise prior to delivery load out.
Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines.
Initiative to work in a physically demanding, fast pace environment for an extended period of time.
Able to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Time management and organizational skills.
Coordinate and work effectively with multiple departments to continuously improve processes, maximize efficiency and exceed customer service expectations.
Ability to work required shift, which includes but not limited to evenings, weekends, holidays and attendance to all mandatory meetings.
All training provided by AFW.
Physical Requirements :
Requires the ability to maneuver in confined and at times congested areas
Requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, & bend for 8 hours or more daily
Requires constant use of arms, hands, fingers, eyes, legs, and back.
Requires lift, lower, push and pull all sizes of merchandise up to 100 lbs. frequently and ability to handle / manipulate up to 250 bs. frequently.
The Furniture Preparation Technician position requires lifting, bending, kneeling, stooping and moving merchandise 8 hours or more daily.
