Description
AGA is seeking an intern to join the Governmental Affairs & Public Policy (GAPP) team as we continue advocate on behalf of our members and educate policymakers on the crucial that natural gas utilities play in their communities.
The GAPP intern can expect to cross reference legislation and the United States Code, review legislation, cover hearings and provide staff with key findings, and assist with other Congressional projects. The GAPP team covers a wide portfolio of issues from environmental policy, infrastructure, and tax to cybersecurity. The intern may also expect to assist in the programming of GAPP events, mainly in conjunction with the Manager of Political Programs on PAC events and the GAPP team on internal Legislative Committee events. The GAPP intern will also assist the state affairs team, updating tracking documents with regulations and decisions, organization of relevant news articles and updates, and dissemination of material information with the State Affairs Committee.
AGA professional staff provide mentoring and assistance with professional development skills. This internship will be paid and is available immediately.
Requirements
Successful candidates will be excellent writers and researchers, have a good understanding of the legislative process, and be available during traditional work hours to support the work of the team in the office and on the Hill. Relevant backgrounds include political science, policy and/or environmental advocacy.
