Job Details
Job Purpose
The Landscape Gardener is responsible for maintaining the appearance of clubhouse grounds and surrounding areas by planning and managing landscape features. Landscape Gardeners work as part of a team to physically perform garden labor, including operating equipment and transporting work materials/equipment throughout course grounds.
Compensation
- Status: Part-time (approx 25 hrs/week)
- Compensation: $16.50-17.50/hour
Responsibilities
- Plan and design landscape features and flowerbeds throughout the grounds using CAD software
- Install and maintain landscape features using appropriate fertilization, irrigation and mowing techniques
- Operate and maintain irrigation, mowing, fertilizer and chemical application equipment following company safety standards and manufacturer’s recommendations
- Observe and report to manager any potential agronomic and maintenance equipment problem issues
- Maintain appearance of grounds by removing trash and debris from parking lots, sidewalks, and entrance road
- Help Superintendent manage landscape gardening staff by assisting with recruiting, selection, training, scheduling, and evaluation activities. May administer corrective action discipline in accordance with company policies
- Oversee the work of other co-workers of some projects
- Maintain good working relationships with co-workers
- Implement and support all AGC initiatives and programs as requested by management
- Other duties may be assigned by management.
Additional Information
Qualifications
- Pesticide applicator license required
- Knowledge of fertilizer /chemical equipment calibrations required
- Ability to operate mowing, line trimmer, edger, sprayer, tiller, chain saw, demo saw, spreader, leaf blower/vacuum, golf cart and dump truck equipment
- Ability to understand and follow directions
- Ability to work cooperatively with others
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers - in some locations ability to communicate effectively with Spanish speaking co-workers may be required
- Valid driver’s license
Education
- Specialty/Technical training required (2-year college degree preferred) and 2 years of related of related experience in horticulture or related science or equivalent combination of education and experience

Working Conditions
- Days and hours of work vary by schedule and business needs.
- Evening, weekend, and holiday work will be required.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand for long periods of time, to walk, read, hear, talk, balance, climb, use hands, use fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, smell, taste, push or pull. The employee may be required to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
