What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounts Payable Specialist position at American Gypsum?
REGULAR DUTIES
- Match either manually or electronically, AG purchase orders with AG receiving documents and with vendor invoices to ensure that only items which have been ordered and received at PO specified prices are vouched to be paid.
- Resolve with AG and vendor personnel any PO/receiver/invoice discrepancies.
- Verify that the appropriate level of management has approved the PO and Invoice if necessary.
- Code all invoices proper general ledger accounts.
- Process payments for invoices and expense reports.
- Print checks for payment of invoices.
- Print check register.
- Post check register to the general ledger.
- Month end closing activities.
- Prepare accrual sheet for any invoices received after the closing date.
- Assist, as necessary, in the preparation of 1099’s.
- Organize and maintain department files.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- High School diploma or G.E.D
- Two or three years of accounting experience, preferably in accounts payable.
- Average computer skills. Must be proficient working with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics system a plus.
- Must be well organized, maintain a positive attitude, and possess the ability to work in a team environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Proficient in verbal and written communications.
- Exercises sound judgment within assigned responsibilities.
- Must be able to read papers and reports without assistance.
- Continual hand/wrist motion is required to operate computers and office machinery.
- Must have manual dexterity to type on a computer keyboard and to operate a 10-key adding machines.
- Must be able to sit for prolong periods of time.
- Must be able to stoop and bend to reach either low or high filing cabinets.
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work is usually performed in an office setting, Monday through Friday.
- Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required to fulfill assigned duties.
- Very limited travel may be required.
