Job Title: Cardiac Ultrasound Program Instructor
Job Summary:
The Cardiac Ultrasound Program Instructor is responsible for providing high-quality education and training to students in the field of cardiac ultrasound. This role includes delivering lectures, facilitating hands-on learning experiences, supervising clinical practicums, and evaluating student performance. The instructor will also contribute to the development of the curriculum and ensure compliance with accreditation standards while fostering a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teaching and Curriculum Development
- Develop, implement, and update the cardiac ultrasound curriculum to align with current best practices and technological advancements.
- Deliver lectures, practical demonstrations, and workshops on cardiac ultrasound techniques and interpretation of results.
- Create and distribute instructional materials, including syllabi, handouts, and multimedia presentations.
- Clinical Supervision and Mentorship
- Supervise students during clinical rotations, ensuring they gain hands-on experience in performing cardiac ultrasound examinations.
- Provide mentorship and support to students, fostering their professional development and confidence in their skills.
- Assessment and Evaluation
- Develop and administer assessments to evaluate student understanding and practical skills, including written exams, practical competency tests, and case studies.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to promote their growth and learning.
- Professional Development and Research
- Stay current with advancements in cardiac imaging and ultrasound technologies through ongoing education and professional development.
- Engage in research activities related to cardiac ultrasound and contribute to the development of scholarly publications.
- Administrative Duties
- Assist in the management of the cardiac ultrasound program, including scheduling classes, maintaining educational resources, and ensuring compliance with accreditation requirements.
- Collaborate with departmental leaders and other faculty members to enhance program quality and student success.
- Commitment to Patient-Centered Care
- Promote patient safety and ethical considerations in the practice of cardiac ultrasound.
- Advocate for cultural competence in the care of diverse patient populations, emphasizing the importance of respectful and inclusive healthcare practices.
Qualifications:
- Education
- An Associates Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Cardiovascular Technology, or a related field is required. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Experience
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography).
- Previous teaching or clinical instruction experience is preferred.
- Certifications
- Current certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or other relevant certification bodies (e.g., Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer - RDCS).
- Skills
- Strong knowledge of cardiac ultrasound principles, practices, and technologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to assess and evaluate student performance effectively.
- Proficiency in educational technology and teaching methodologies.
