The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization. The social media internship will work with other content creators within the National Marketing and Communication department to gain professional experience with a national non-profit organization while working directly to create compelling content for our social channels.
The Association offers many resources to help you maintain work-life harmonization through your changing needs and life situations. To help you be successful, you will have access to Heart U, our award-winning corporate university, as well as training and support locally and through our National Center.

Internship Overview
- Time Commitment: 20 hours per week
- Internship Duration: 5/19/25-8/22/25
- Location: Remote. Must have Tuesday or Thursday availability in ET or CT time zone
- Salary: $23.00 per hour
- Work with the Social Media content creation team to craft and execute compelling vertical video for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
- Monitor results of social media content on key platforms and provide analysis of findings
- Source new content ideas and monitor trends on social platforms
- Conduct an analysis of what other organizations and brands are doing on social media and present findings to the broader brand marketing team
- Learn brand standards and ensure video content aligns with the goals and mission of the organization
- Candidates who are college seniors or graduate students with a business major with a focus on marketing, social media marketing, and broadcast journalism preferred.
- Coursework and/or experience with social media monitoring, marketing data analytics, and data segmentation reporting
- Coursework and/or experience with in-app editing tools on TikTok and Instagram are required.
- Coursework and/or Premiere Pro are required.
- Basic video, graphic design and writing skills are required.
- Coursework and/or experience with Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva preferred.
- Coursework and/or experience with After Effects and Blender.
- Effective oral, written and presentation communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection.
- Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.
