Job Summary: The Gift Shop Lead supports the Special Event, Concessions & Retail Manager in various retail aspects of our Gift Shop department. This position will lead product merchandising and product display and maintain inventory levels in stores and store upkeep. Assist Special Event, Concessions & Retail Manager with employee training and support of all gift shop personnel. This position is responsible for creating a great customer experience and providing the highest level of support to guests and staff. This can be a fast-paced position that will be expected to work gift shop shifts while managing other administrative duties with a focus on accuracy and excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Handles the merchandising, product display and appropriate stocking of all onsite gift shop locations
- Assists in the recruitment, training, scheduling and timekeeping of gift shop staff ensuring adequate staffing year-round
- Ensures that Sales Associates provide the highest level of customer service to guests
- Ensures that gift shop locations exude a bright and inviting atmosphere so that customers feel welcome while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization
- Facilitates regular sales training with staff to review effective sales and customer service techniques and to further hone the skills of employees
- Establishes a high standard of product knowledge for sales staff
- Assists Special Event, Concessions & Retail Manager with special projects such as administrative tasks, warehouse organization, event preparedness, etc.
- Collaborates regularly with the Special Event, Concessions & Retail Manager on daily operations and employee performance
- Other duties as assigned
Education, Skill and Work Experience:
- At least 2 years of retail sales or other applicable experience, strongly preferred
- Prior experience and a working knowledge of Point of Sales systems a plus
- Experience employing effective sales techniques while providing excellent customer service
- Prior experience supervising a dynamic and multigenerational staff in a fast-paced and customer-centric environment
- Proven ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences (employees, management and the public)
- Ability to use or easily learn technology based programs such as Microsoft, Outlook, Point of Sale systems, etc.
Work Environment:
- Up to 10 hours per day standing and walking
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
- Available to work nights, weekends, holidays and occasional overtime
- Comfort with bending, twisting, kneeling to position merchandise or to organize merchandise displays.
Salary : $19 - $22
