Position summary:
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Welder / Fabricator with at least 1-2 years of experience and strong mechanical aptitude to join our maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing steel shot blast machines and other industrial equipment. This position requires the ability to work in confined spaces, follow safety protocols, and operate welding and fabrication equipment to ensure machinery operates efficiently. You will be expected to work independently or as part of a team to minimize downtime and ensure safe, high-quality repairs.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Welding & Fabrication: Perform welding (MIG, Stick) and fabrication to repair or modify steel shot blast machines and other industrial equipment. Ensure all welding work meets quality standards.
- Confined Space Work: Safely work in confined spaces when needed, adhering to strict safety guidelines, including confined space entry procedures and use of appropriate PPE.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical failures or malfunctions in shot blast machines, conveyors, and other equipment. Complete necessary repairs or part replacements to restore machines to optimal function.
- Machine Disassembly & Assembly: Assist with the disassembly and reassembly of steel shot blast machines and components to perform maintenance, repairs, or upgrades.
- Blueprint & Technical Drawing Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents to understand repair requirements and accurately fabricate components.
- Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, including inspections, lubrication, and adjustments to prevent unplanned downtime. Monitor the performance of machinery and systems to identify issues before they become critical.
- Documentation: Accurately document maintenance activities, repairs, parts usage, and time spent on tasks. Provide detailed reports for management and team collaboration.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with team members, engineers, and supervisors to coordinate repairs and improvements. Communicate issues, progress, and potential risks promptly to ensure smooth operations.
- Safety Compliance: Maintain a safe working environment by following all safety regulations, including confined space procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO), PPE requirements, and welding safety protocols.
Work Environment
- Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, forklifts and overhead cranes.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud and requires hearing protection at all times.
- Hard hats, safety shoes, gloves and eye protection are also required at all times. The work environment may be noisy, hot, and dusty.
- Temperature environment 0 degrees to 110 degrees

Qualifications
MUST have mechanical, fabrication, and stick welding experience
Education and experience:
- Stick welding experience required
- Fabrication experience required
- Experience with shot blast equipment maintenance or similar industrial machinery
- Welding certification (AWS, ASME, or equivalent)
- Basic understanding of electrical systems or experience with PLC troubleshooting is a plus
- High school diploma or equivalent
Physical requirements:
- 50-pound lifting requirement
- Visually inspect machinery
- Comfortable working in confined spaces, high spaces, or awkward positions for extended periods
- Exposure to welding fumes, high noise levels, dust, and varying temperatures
- Prolonged standing and walking on concrete surfaces
- Bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean and service machinery
